Function Health cost in 2026: membership, add-ons and cost per biomarker

Function Health cost: the short answer

The Function Health membership costs $365 a year, billed once, in every state it serves except New York and New Jersey. That buys 160+ lab tests: about 100 at a first Quest draw and 60+ at a second three to six months later, plus clinician notes. Divide it out and you pay about $2.28 per test result or $182.50 per draw. We checked Function's pricing page on September 29, 2026.

The bill grows with add-ons, which Function does not price publicly, and with home draws. Most members who add nothing pay exactly $365. Members who add a cancer screen and an MRI can pass $2,000.

What the $365 includes

• 160+ lab tests a year across two draws, run by Quest Diagnostics. Heart (ApoB, Lp(a), LDL particles), metabolic (glucose, HbA1c, insulin), thyroid with antibodies, sex hormones, nutrients, liver, kidney, CBC, toxins (lead, mercury) and a 20-item urinalysis.
• Clinician review of every result, with flagged issues.
• A personalized protocol and biological age score.
• Access (at extra cost) to add-on tests, Galleri, Alzheimer's testing and MRI and CT scans.

The price has come down. Function charged $499 a year until late 2025, when it cut the membership to $365 while keeping 160+ tests and two draws. Many older reviews still quote $499, so check the date on anything you read. The same goes for comparison pages run by competitors, some of which still quote Function at $499.

Spread over a year, $365 is about $30.42 a month. For comparison, testing SiPhox Longevity Essentials every quarter at list price is $596 a year, about $49.67 a month, and a single yearly SiPhox kit is $149, about $12.42 a month. Function's monthly figure is the lowest of the three for the number of markers, but you pay it all up front.

Not included: home blood draws, the add-on tests themselves, prescriptions, and any doctor visit to act on a result. Our Function Health review covers what is tested in full.

Function Health add-on tests and prices

Function lists its add-ons on its test page but shows prices only inside the member dashboard. The prices below come from a member who published their dashboard on September 17, 2026. Treat them as a guide; Function may change them.

Function also lists extended heart, thyroid, hormone, immune and nutrient panels, food allergy and sensitivity tests, mold and PFAS exposure, Lyme and viral antibodies, and CT scans as add-ons. We could not verify current prices for those.

At-home draws: since buying Getlabs in April 2026, Function offers draws at home or at work. The fee is not published on Function's pricing page. Getlabs charged $29 to $49 per visit in 2021, but that price predates the acquisition and should not be relied on.

New York and New Jersey pricing

Function's FAQ says testing in New York and New Jersey "can cost more due to state regulations" and does not publish the figure. An independent review updated September 22, 2026 reports $600+ a year for residents of those two states. Function is not available at all in Rhode Island, Hawaii or Puerto Rico.

Superpower has the same New York and New Jersey caveat. SiPhox charges the same price everywhere it ships, including New Jersey and Rhode Island, but does not serve New York or Hawaii.

HSA, FSA and insurance

• HSA and FSA: Function says the membership is eligible and advises checking with your plan. Lab fees are a qualifying medical expense under IRS Publication 502. One one-star reviewer in September 2026 struggled to get an itemized receipt, so ask for one before you need it. Our HSA and FSA blood test guide explains how the tax saving works.
• Insurance: Function is "100% insurance-free", so it does not bill insurers and you cannot claim it against a deductible.
• Refunds: Function does not refund past payments. You can cancel and rejoin at any time, so cancel before the renewal date if you do not want another year.

What a year of Function Health really costs

If you pay with pre-tax HSA or FSA money, the effective cost falls by your tax rate. At a 22% federal bracket, $365 becomes about $285.

Costs that are easy to miss

• Home draws. If you cannot get to Quest, the home or office visit is an extra fee Function does not publish.
• Time. Two fasting morning appointments a year, plus travel. For some people that is the real cost.
• Follow-up. Function's clinician notes do not replace your own doctor. A result that needs confirming or treating means a doctor visit and a repeat test, which your insurance may cover but Function will not.
• Renewal. The membership renews each year. Function does not refund past payments, so set a reminder a week before the renewal date if you are unsure about year two.
• Gift memberships. A September 2026 one-star review describes a gift membership that renewed on the buyer's card with no easy way to stop it. If you give one, check the renewal setting.

Function Health cost vs SiPhox by how often you test

The comparison is not like for like: each Function draw covers far more markers. It shows where the money goes if what you care about is a short list of numbers tracked over time.

Function Health cost per biomarker vs the alternatives

Cost per biomarker is the fairest way to compare memberships that test very different numbers of markers. Prices were checked on each company's site on September 29, 2026; Rythm's shipping is added at checkout and not published.

Two cautions on these numbers. Headline counts include calculated ratios and, for Function, 20 urinalysis readings, so the cost per distinct blood measurement is higher for everyone. And a low cost per marker only helps if you want those markers: a person tracking ApoB and HbA1c every quarter gets no value from the 150 other results between draws.

How to pay less for Function Health

• Use pre-tax money. An HSA or FSA card cuts the effective price by your tax rate.
• Draw at Quest, not at home, unless the home fee is worth it to you.
• Be selective with add-ons. The biggest ones (Galleri, MRI, Alzheimer's detection) cost more than the membership itself. Ask your doctor whether they suit your age and risk before buying.
• Watch for referral links. Some member bloggers advertise a small discount through their own links (one quoted $340 instead of $365 in September 2026). We have not verified any code.

Is Function Health worth the money?

It depends on what you would do with the results. The table below starts from the goal and gives the cheapest service that meets it, using prices checked on September 29, 2026. Year-one costs include SiPhox's $25 shipping and its $99 first-test offer where it applies.

A useful rule of thumb: if you would read and act on at least 80 of Function's results, the membership is excellent value, since $365 / 80 is about $4.56 a result, already below SiPhox's $4.81. If you would act on 30 or fewer, a smaller panel costs less per useful number. HbA1c is a good example of a marker worth tracking on its own: the CDC treats 5.7% to 6.4% as the prediabetes range, and people working to bring it down usually retest every three months, more often than Function's two draws allow.

When SiPhox costs less than Function Health

Cost per biomarker is not the whole story. If you only want to track a short list of markers, you are paying Function for 130 you may not look at. SiPhox is cheaper in three situations:

• One test a year. A single SiPhox kit is $149, or $124 with the first-test offer, against $365. You get 31 markers including ApoB, Lp(a), HbA1c and hs-CRP.
• Twice a year. Two SiPhox tests cost $298 ($273 with the first-test offer), still below $365.
• A home draw. SiPhox is always at home. Function's home visit is an extra, unpublished fee.

Once you test quarterly ($596 a year at SiPhox, $571 with the first-test offer) you pay more than Function, but Function cannot do quarterly draws inside the membership at all. See the full SiPhox cost breakdown.
