Function Health vs Superpower: the short answer

Pick Function Health if you want the fuller panel; pick Superpower if you want a care team and prescriptions in the same app. Both are yearly memberships with two venous draws at Quest: Function Health costs $365 for 160+ lab tests (about 100 at the first draw, 60 at the follow-up), and Superpower costs $349 for 150+ results (100+ at baseline and 50+ at the retest, by its own count). Per result they are almost identical: $2.28 against $2.33.

The difference is what is included. On September 29, 2026, Function's list included Lp(a), fasting insulin, free T3 and free T4, both thyroid antibodies, PSA, an omega-3 index, homocysteine, lead and mercury. Superpower's Baseline Blood Panel list did not; it sells Lp(a) ($79), insulin ($59), thyroid antibodies with free T3 ($99) and PSA ($49) as add-ons. Buy those four and Superpower costs $635. Superpower wins on access to clinicians and prescriptions, and on price if you only want the core panel.

Updates from our September 29, 2026 check: Function serves 48 states (not yet Rhode Island or Hawaii) and says testing in New York and New Jersey can cost more. Superpower serves 39 states and Washington, D.C., plus New York and New Jersey at different pricing, and charges $119 for an at-home draw. Yearly cost and cost per biomarker

Both headline counts include markers tested twice, so the number of different markers is closer to 100 each. Superpower's own comparison page puts its first draw at about 90. Function's price outside New York and New Jersey is a flat $365. It only says testing in those two states "can cost more"; one independent review reports $600 or more. Worked examples: what each reader pays

The $16 headline gap hides much bigger differences once you price what you actually want. Four hypothetical readers, priced with figures read on September 29, 2026:

Biomarker overlap

Both cover the basics well: ApoB, a lipid panel, hs-CRP, HbA1c, glucose, total and free testosterone, SHBG, DHEA-S, cortisol, TSH, vitamin D, the iron panel, kidney and liver chemistry, a full blood count and urinalysis.

Function includes on the base membership: Lp(a), fasting insulin, free T3 and T4, TPO and thyroglobulin antibodies, LH, FSH, prolactin, AMH for women, total and free PSA for men, omega-3 and omega-6, homocysteine, magnesium, zinc, LDL particle number and size, lead, mercury, ANA and rheumatoid factor. Function tests ApoB, Lp(a), thyroid and hormones once a year and repeats the basic chemistry at the follow-up.

Superpower includes some things Function does not list, mostly calculated ratios such as GGT-to-HDL and the triglyceride-glucose index, and it has a large add-on menu (41 tests on September 29, 2026, from a $49 PSA to a $949 multi-cancer test). Its marketing strip mentions fasting insulin and free T4, but its Baseline Blood Panel list shows insulin as a $59 add-on and total T4 rather than free T4. Collection and convenience

Both use a needle in a vein at one of 2,000+ Quest locations. Superpower asks for a 10-hour food and caffeine fast, and collects a urine sample too; Function's list also includes urinalysis. For a home visit, Superpower charges $119 per draw; Function lists an at-home draw by a licensed specialist in the areas it covers. Either way, someone draws several tubes of blood.

Turnaround and clinician access

• Function Health: first results within 48 hours of the draw, per its FAQ. Clinicians review every result and flag issues, with a written summary and a personalized protocol. Add-ons include an annual MRI at $999.
• Superpower: results in about 5 to 10 days depending on the page. A care team of licensed physicians, nurse practitioners and pharmacists answers within one business day, and members can access prescriptions and member-priced supplements.

Function gives you a clinician's read of every result. Superpower gives you people to ask afterwards, and a route to treatment.

What customers complain about

Function Health had 4.5 out of 5 on Trustpilot from 2,990 reviews on September 29, 2026 (74% five-star, 6% one-star). Negative themes: automated, slow support; paid add-on tests that went missing; gift memberships the giver cannot manage; results that are hard to navigate.

Superpower had 4.5 from 361 reviews (86% five-star, 9% one-star). Negative themes: support that answers only by text, add-on suggestions that overlap, charges after cancellation, and missing biomarkers.

Same score, but Function has about eight times as many reviews, so its rating is the more settled of the two.

The at-home alternative: SiPhox
